Meet DG Debbie Doty

2019-2020

District Governor Debbie Doty joined Lions Clubs in 2010 as a charter member of the Oskaloosa Lions Club. She is currently the editor of The Iowa Lion magazine and is very active in district and state committees. She served as district governor in 2014-2015 and enjoyed it so much she is doing it again in 2019-2020.

DG Debbie has served in many leadership roles including club president, club secretary, club membership chair, zone chair, District Alert chair, District Diabetes Awareness chair, District Information Technology chair, District Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer, first and second vice district governor. She has served on the MD9 Long Range Planning Committee and the MD9 State Credentials chair. She is still active on the State Planning Committee, on which she has served the past 4 years, and is a member of the MD9 Host Committee for the 2021 USA/Canada Leadership Forum. She is a graduate of the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute, Advanced Lions Leadership Institute and recently of Faculty Development Institute.

In recognition of her service to the International Association of Lions Clubs, DG Debbie has received numerous awards, including 10 International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, the International President’s Leadership Medal, and a Warren Coleman Honorary Award for dedicated service in Lionism.

In addition to service to Lions, DG Debbie serves on the Oskaloosa Chamber and Development Group Commerce and Scholarship commitees, the Oskaloosa Retail Committee, is a member of the Oskaloosa Elks Lodge and the Mahaska County Historical Society, teaches Sunday school and sings in the church choir. DG Debbie and her husband of 27 years, Lion John Doty, reside in University Park, Iowa, and operate their own business in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where they sell and repair computers and do commercial printing. They have three grown children and 17 grandchildren.
